  • Sontronics Mercury is a variable-pattern valve condenser microphone that guarantees you spectacular results, whatever you’re recording. Hand-built in the UK, Mercury utilises premium-grade electronic components with exceptionally low tolerances, rarely used in microphone manufacturing. This results in an impeccably clean signal and superbly accurate reproduction of vocals and instruments. Mercury’s power supply features both pad and filter switches, and a fully sweepable polar pattern control that provides an infinite choice of pickups, from omni to figure-of-eight and every nuance in between. All this plus its exceptionally low self-noise make Mercury a must-have for anyone serious about achieving the very best quality results.

The number of top awards that Mercury has picked up is a shining example of how its sound and build quality has impressed everyone who's ever got near it!

Every element of Mercury, inside and out, has been developed with absolute perfection in mind. Mercury sets itself apart from all other valve mics thanks to its cutting-edge technology, as its designer and Sontronics' founder Trevor Coley explains… “During Mercury’s development, we wanted to push boundaries and so experimented with super-low-tolerance components more commonly found in aerospace and medical industries. We also laboriously tested almost a hundred vacuum tubes in our search for ‘that Mercury sound’, landing on the European ECC81/12AT7. “The development of Mercury was truly groundbreaking, and the results speak for themselves. Its astonishingly accurate reproduction combined with a classic valve sound have resulted in Mercury being compared to vintage valve mics that cost over ten times the price, and Mercury being referred to as a classic of the future. “No serious studio should be without this pinnacle of British microphone engineering!”

A true studio workhorse, the Mercury gives absolutely stunning results on whatever you put it in front of, from solo brass, strings and woodwind instruments to piano, harp or guitar, from vocals and voiceover to choir, ensemble and orchestra.
